Two finishes!

Well, I've finished A Quaker Prayer and I think it turned out really nice! Here's a pic.

I also finished crocheting an afghan. I still need to weave in some of the ends, but otherwise, it's done!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this afghan. I will probably find someone to give it to or take it to a nursing home. I have so much yarn to use up! But I am having fun using it up!

Sorry about the quality of the pictures. I just took them at 10:45 p.m. I didn't want to wait for daylight. I'm not home much when it's daylight anyway!

I hope you all had a great 4th! Mine wasn't too bad. We went to Olive Garden for dinner and then went to see Public Enemies with Johnny Depp. It was about John Dillinger and it was kind of neat hearing town names mentioned that I have been to. He was born and raised just a few miles from where I grew up. The movie was pretty good. It rained all day here so the fireworks were canceled and I didn't feel like fighting crowds to go see them tonight, so I stayed in and stitched.

We also went to Barnes and Noble yesterday and I bought the latest Bead and Button issue and another book by Diana Gabaldon. It's the 4th or 5th in the Outlander series. Very good books! I highly recommend them!

Well, that's it for today. See ya!~~

Vintage beads!

My mom called me at work today and said she found a tin with some beads in it that was my grandmother's. I stopped after work today and this is what she gave me. They are gorgeous! The picture doesn't do these beads justice at all! The top beads are black bugle beads - a couple small hanks of those. From the left - blue seeds, probably a size 11, about 5 hanks and they have an almost fiber optic look. The next seed beads are a teal color, about 3 or 4 hanks of these and they are very sparkly! The next is an almost royal blue, only 1 hank, also a size 11 and also very sparkly! The last is, obviously, a green, but a very pretty shade of green! There are about 4 or 5 hanks of these too and they sparkle quite a bit too! I had more of them, but stopped at my DIL's house and gave her some of them. She loves beads too! I told her she has to let me see what she makes out of them.

Next is a picture of an afghan I finished recently. The pattern is called Lacy Shells and I did it in an ecru color that I had a bunch of skeins of that I had forgotten about! I've decided to try to use up all the yarn I have stashed around here before I buy any more. This will be the 2nd full sized afghan I've finished this year. I've got another full sized one about half done and started another baby afghan a couple nights ago too.
My camera has broken and it's being held together right now with some scotch tape. I'll have to go buy a new one in a couple weeks. This one is a Kodak and wasn't very expensive when I bought it a few years ago, but it has taken some great pictures! Any recommendations on a new camera? I know I want to get a little nicer one that has a better zoom.

No stitching updates, but I have been working on the Quaker Prayer and am almost done with it. Maybe another week or so and it will be done. I ordered Rose Thread Pouch and Rose Sampler (LHN) today from Salty Yarns and can't wait for it to get here! I hope I have the right threads for it - I forgot to order those!

So much stitching, too much J.O.B. that gets in the way. I wish I could retire and stitch all the time! Wouldn't that be great?!

See ya!~~~

Storms and progress

We've had some storms come through in the last couple days. The worst one was Wednesday night (morning) about 4:00 a.m. I was asleep when the storm woke me up. And I found out that Allie is afraid of storms. Usually she sleeps at the foot of my bed, but when I woke up during the storm, she was right up against me and I had my arm around her. She licked my face when I woke up. It was so sweet!

Here is a picture that was taken right outside the front of my building after the storm.

It was a fairly good sized and pretty tree. I'm sorry to see it gone. The storms last night weren't quite as bad, thank goodness.

I finished another piece that I'm going to make into a floss ring tag. Can't remember the name of it, but it was a freebie.
And here is a picture of the progress I've made on A Quaker Prayer.

Sorry it's not a better picture. I took it while it was on my lap at night time. I'm close to being done with it!

I've also been crocheting quite a bit lately. I've finished another afghan and started yet another one. The finished one is in ecru and the pattern was called lacy shells. It's very pretty and I think I'm going to keep it for myself. The one I've started is in red and it's called filet diamonds. It's very easy to do. And I've gotten some ideas for more afghans. I have several (5 or 6) containers full of yarn that I want to use up so I can buy more!

It's a cloudy, gloomy day here, so I'm off to visit my LNS - the frame and charts they ordered for me are in. Yay!

I have no idea what "labels" are for, but I'm going to see what happens when I fill in that option at the bottom of my compose page.

What do you think of my additions and changes to my blog? I've been having a lot of fun changing things around. Watch for it to change as I play around more. I've been doing it from work when I'm not busy, which is a lot of the time lately.

See ya!~~

Another small finish

Well, it's been a while since I updated this. I made my last finish into a floss ring tag and I am pleased with the way it turned out.

I have another piece finished that I want to make into a floss ring tag too. I can see these are going to be as addictive as biscornus. For my first one, I don't think it's too bad. I have a "crop-a-dile" to set the eyelet in. It sure was fun to do!

I've been pretty busy since my last post. The weather has finally turned nice here and I've been walking the dog as much as I can. I also have my 2nd job back!!! YAY!! My boss figured out a way to keep me. I spent 4 1/2 hours working there this past Saturday.

I bought a 3 month pass to the town's recreation and aquatic center. I've gained quite a bit of weight since I quit smoking (7 weeks tomorrow!) so I've been going down there as much as I can also. I've used an elliptical machine, walked the track a few times, and went down yesterday for a yoga class. Boy, am I sore today from that class! I stayed home this evening. I was going to go down for a Zumba class - an aerobic exercise class using Latin dance moves - looks like fun! - but I was too sore and decided to just stay at home this evening. There's another one tomorrow evening that I will go down for. I also have a new swim suit that fits, so I will start swimming too.

I've made quite a bit of progress on A Quaker Prayer but haven't taken a picture yet. I will take a picture of it and the piece for the next floss ring tag and post it in a day or so.

Last Saturday, the 25th, was my step-grandson's 2nd birthday party at my DIL's mother's house. It was a gorgeous, warm day - about 82 F! - and Gabe had a great time! He received a lot of presents and everyone had a good time. I came home and took a nap - My first day being outside so much just wore me out! LOL!

Can't think of too much else to post right now, so I'm off to stitch on something or put together another floss ring tag.

See ya!~~

More stash and a finish

Saturday was a beautiful day so I went on a small road trip. I went to a needlework shop about 20 minutes from me and bought some more stash. Here are a couple pictures of what I got.

A snip-its jar, a pattern by My Big Toe Designs called A Quaker Prayer, the WDW to stitch it, and a cute pair of stork earrings. I've already started the Quaker Prayer and it is so much fun to stitch! Here is my progress so far.

The floss colors are rum raisin, bark, eggplant, pea coat, deep sea, seaweed, okefenoke, and swamp water. They are so pretty! I really like the way it is turning out. I also ordered 2 charts by Whispered by the Wind - one is Cantata and the other is Rose Lace (I think) and I also ordered a "doodler" frame by American Dream Products.

I also have a small finish! This was a freebie and I was able to start and finish it in one evening. I used a silk floss by Vicky Clayton, but I don't remember the name of it. Dragon's Blood maybe? I'm going to try to make it in to a floss ring tag. Here is a pic of the finished piece.

I stayed home from work today due to some chronic stomach problems, so I'm going to try to put together the Traveling Stitcher pieces. I think there is a picture in an earlier post of the project keep for this. I will post pics when it's done.

I sure would appreciate any advice or tips to make my blog nicer. I don't know much about blogging yet. What are "labels" for? Any help is surely appreciated! My email is tpatterson2@indy.rr.com

Well, I'm off to do some stitching and finishing - or maybe I'll take a nap. Bye!~~
